My friend Garrett Roberts is one of the resident artists at Soulard Art Market. I've had work in a couple of shows there. Roberts is a soft-spoken, unassuming guy who creates uncommon images. He often uses a Holga camera, creating photos much different than what the eye sees. You can see some of them in a post about him last year.
I've bought a couple of his pieces. The top picture in this set has a place of honor in my office.

beau portrait b&wv (j'aime bien le cadre en format vignettage) et surprenant tableau derrière l'artiste
ReplyDeleteYour 'Portraits of St. Louis Artists' series is a wonderful project. Virginia has a wonderful '100 Strangers' series too. Maybe I should start one like yours OR hers.
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't get down to see you while you were in Maine.
Shadowy portrait that somehow goes well with the work behind him.
ReplyDeleteGreat portrait and cool composition with the piece on the background.
ReplyDeleteps: Holga rocks!
Looks like cool dude. I would perhaps have cropped out the t-shirt with all that text on it.
ReplyDeleteI like this portrait. He looks friendly and accessible. After looking at some of his work (is bizarre too strong a word?) it seems that the framed painting above his head might be an allusion to what's going on in his head.
