It's The Light

.
The light towards sunset Saturday afternoon in Forest Park was just gorgeous. To make it even better, the geese flew in right on cue.

On another note, we were relieved to hear that our friend Luis in Santiago, Chile, and his family are well. No electricity at home but it was working at his office so he could use email and charge batteries. He and millions of other Chileans face great challenges in the days to come.

  3. Cool shot, and how much did you have to pay the birds to line up just right like that? :-).

I can't imagine the strength of that quake your friend and his fellow Chileans experienced. I've been through some really big one's, one I thought we would all die in, I think 7.1 was the biggest. . .and the one in Chile was just so exponentially larger. Aftershocks keep everyone on edge. I see today they've quadrupled the death and casualty counts since yesterday's information and that the government is actively seeking outside assistance. There is a reason I moved from living on top of a very active fault that had activity every few weeks to an area where the quakes are big but come only every 50 or so years :-). I'm sure we are all thinking of those affected in this ginormous quake. It is a full moon tonight and the tides all around the Pacific Rim have been affected by the resulting waves. A friend emailed me the high water mark at Redondo Beach. . .not problematic, just high.

  4. How fortunate for you, Bob, to have time your trip as you did. Good hearing your friend is ok ... relatively speaking.

  6. The Chase Park Plaza overlooking Forest Park never looked better.

It is good to hear about your friend in Chile, but sad for the country and so many others.

  7. Nice, this picture gives me the feeling that those trees are getting ready to bud. I can smell the thaw.

  8. Yep the geese love you B! This is gorgeous. I love the pine branches coming from the left and the geese lead the eye out.

Relieved your friend and his family are safe. Amazing that you were just right there!

  11. Very nice photo. The trees in the foreground and the imposant building in the background are well photographed.

  12. Hey Bob, my wife and I were actually walking in the park and passed you as you were taking the picture in this post and the subsequent day. I thought you looked familiar from the pictures of you on your blog, and we almost stopped and said hello, but I wasn't sure. I guess my instinct was correct. Glad you got some great shots! Forest Park is truly a treasure for those of us that call Saint Louis home. Keep up the good work!
