Macy's On Fire

.
Nah, that's bogus. I had absolutely nothing to post for today. Since I was speaking at a bar association legal education seminar (they had me do the ethics block - who's idea was that?) at their facility on the top floor of a downtown office building (the 30th! woo hoo!), I brought my point-n-shoot to see if I could get something from such a vertiginous height. Oops, forgot about the reflections in the window from inside. They had a fireplace going in the lounge where I was standing. Didn't notice it until I downloaded this but it is in a good location.

That's my old favorite, Eads Bridge, in the middle distance. The walkway I shoot from is on the near/south side. The Mississippi is very low. That will change with the coming of spring.

  2. Mais oui Olivier, il y a même un Macy's à Walla Walla, bled paumé de l'autre côté du pays...

Sorry for hijacking, that fireplace reflected is a stroke of genius. I like discovering things on my photos that I hadn't noticed when taking them.

  3. That's very fun. If you had just shopped in some smoke, we would have been none the wiser ;-)

PS, I read that line, "Since I was speaking at a bar. . ." and missed the association part. 8-).

  4. Very clever. Thank goodness it was an illusion. Tragically, I once had an experience of speaking at a conference in a high rise with a nice view in central Phoenix, and the audience and I had a view of two TV news helicopters colliding in mid air and crashing to the ground, killing all occupants.

I loved your photos of Chile and Argentina, having been to the Perito Moreno glacier and spending a fair amount of time in Recoleta while visiting my son in Buenos Aires. I have just caught up with your photos, as Julie and I were away in Tanzania for two weeks and had limited internet access. You are very ambitious to post from the road, and are probably the first to post from the air.

  5. Great shot. If you hadn't revealed the secret, I would have thought Macy's was about to have a red hot sale.

  6. Ethics??? Give me a minute to clean off the coffee I just spewed all over my monitor!

Now can we talk about that awful gray building near the bridge? What is that thing B??

The fire, yep it fooled me. Thought you had gone to work for the local newspaper!

  7. You are 'on fire' with this one. Great capture, even if it wasn't quite intentional!
