When I have no ideas for something to shoot I go to the riverfront. New York has the Brooklyn and George Washington Bridges, San Francisco the Golden Gate. They are very grand. The Eads Bridge is not, but it is beautiful, graceful and sturdy. It spans a major league river. The walkway from which I shoot the Mississippi, the Arch and downtown (many examples on this blog) is on the near side. Good enough for me.

Still a great shot. Sadly the bridge is lightly used. Definitely a great spot for pictures.
ReplyDeleteLooks a bit like lace, it's very nice in monochrome, it even looks older than it probably is.
ReplyDeleteBon dimanche !
A lovely vintage postcard!

I've been so busy lately, I totally missed the photo from two days ago. If I'm not mistaken, you have a picture of the building I worked in when I worked in St. Louis for two years on a project there. Is that not the old Mercantile Bank building? I worked for Mercantile Bank of a major system conversion.
ReplyDeleteBridging the river beats treading water -:)
ReplyDeleteNice shot! The bridge is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's really nice. Looks like an illustration.
ReplyDeleteI really like the intricate ironwork. Any bridge that can span Big Muddy is an engineering feat. It's always a thrill to cross the Mississippi.
ReplyDeleteWow. All I can say is wow, great shot.
ReplyDeleteThe Eads Bridge is indeed graceful.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the Golden Gate, San Francisco Bay is spanned by the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (which technically is actually two bridges), the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, the San Mateo Bridge and the Dumbarton Bridge.
if you didn't notice the lights, this would look like a old old photo of the bridge,
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific composition.
