The Arch lives in a city. These rush hour drivers heading east on Chestnut Street probably don't notice it, just the traffic light and the bumper of the car ahead of them.
I see brilliant autumn colors in the park around the Arch from my office window. I hope I can find the time to go shoot it. Not so far this week.

La grande arche sert aussi de péage ;)
ReplyDeleteI often wonder if Parisians feel that way about la tour Eiffel. Surely they never tire of see that! I would think your Arch would be the same for your citizens. Always a delight for the eyes.

Ah Virginia! The tower is our beacon... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI an imagine them drumming on the wheels. That's what I'd do, but then I'm French. It's very, very nice to see the arch in the inner city perspective like that.
Not a thing wrong with dumpster diving through your archive. I'm thinking about that myself for tomorrow's post.
ReplyDeleteLove this perspective of the arch sheltering the courthouse. Lovely!
Very impressive and original arch !
