Pillow Fight Under the Arch!

.

Several weeks ago, Hayden Carter of St. Louis Improv contacted me through the blog and invited me to record some of their street provocation theater. Saturday was the day for a Worldwide Pillow Fight, the local version held under his loose supervision beneath the Arch. It was a fun-for-all free-for-all until the park rangers came along and did a Big Brother number on the mêlée.

Check the link above to St. Louis Improv's Facebook page for upcoming subversive activities.

WHAT'S ON TODAY: a rally in opposition to the horrifying cuts in social services being pushed through the Missouri legislature by the Republican majority. It will be held on the steps of the Old Court House and is led by Rabbi Susan Talve, one of this area's most admirable religious leaders. I'll make it if I can.

TOMORROW:
oh, this is fun. Let's stick with it.

AND BY THE WAY, team member ShadowyOne was along for the festivities yesterday and was smart enough to bring her FlipVideo. Check out live coverage of the pillow fight on YouTube. Click the HQ button for higher resolution. The person wandering around in a blue jacket and hat taking pictures is me.

  2. You could have gotten your lights knocked out Bob! You were right there in the thick of it. I'm disappointed that no feathers flew before Big Brother ran you all off.

  3. Great photos and a very fun video. You even got the building I used to live in when I was working there in the background. That's what I call good clean fun! Too bad they couldn't continue.

  4. Yesterday my daily photo was a collage of photos from the Chicago Pillow Fight held by the Art Institute. It wasn't shut down but the Art Inst security guards were very diligent about keeping anyone with pillows OFF the Art Inst steps. St. Louis had more room so it's more discernibly a pillow fight. Chicago's looked like a strange mob scene.

  5. great shot. I read in the paper today that one police department, I forget where, stopped the fight and confiscated the pillows. But, gave back the pillow cases. too funny.

  7. Someone should buy Hayden and/or other members of St. Louis Improv this shirt. It was a fun day, as are most daddy-daughter photo outings.

  8. It's really interesting to me that you're right in the middle of things and no one tried to clobber you. Obvy that this was just good clean fun. Too bad about Big Brother, but we all have to do our jobs. Loved the collective Awwwww! from the crowd. Shadowy One did a great job!
