October 24: We’ve spent the last four days in small towns and a mountaintop Shinto shrine complex. No Internet. There doesn’t seem to be any WiFi in this country, either. I’ve seen only one other person using a laptop in public. In any event, Hiraizumi is a small town with some very famous temple complexes. They are quite beautiful but there’s not a lot else to do here. Above, a scene from one of the temples.

ReplyDeleteI just love Japanese English!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great catch. You're really covering all the bases here, ST. I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese absolutley murder English in any number of ways. They have/had a pretty lax attitude about pornography and sometimes I would be in a youth hostel and find some pretty risque stuff with incredibly hilarious captions and dialogue. But t-shirts like the one above were my favorite.
PS Virginia needs help unraveling my picture puzzle. Maybe you can help her out.
ReplyDeleteIt's Run DMC lyrics, not "Engrish".
