Disoriented Some-Day-Or-Other Arch Series

I read an awful lot of medical records in my job. Part of a standard quickie psychiatric screening is whether an individual is "oriented X 3," that is, to person, place and time. 1 - Who am I? Who are you? 2 - Where are you? 3 - What time/date/year is this? How long have you been in this room? When I put together yesterday's post on Wednesday night, I flunked Number 3. I lost track of the day of the week. We could attribute the problem to a run of days in which I was exploring new dimensions in overwork or to creeping dementia. You pick.

As a result, the Thursday Arch Series appears on Friday. Everyone's entitled to an occasional mistake, right? This view of my favorite monument is from an alley in Laclede's Landing. It is an area of old warehouses north of the Arch from the days when the Mississippi was our chief means of transportation. It's been redeveloped into restaurants, bars, nightclubs and, lately, our most enormous casino-hotel complex. Pierre Laclede and August Chouteau were the French fur traders and explorers who founded St. Louis is 1764. The alley plays peek-a-boo with the the side of the Arch.

  3. Snapper - thanks for your kind comment. I've thought of doing that (in my spare time). There are a few web sites you can use to self-publish photography books in small quantities. Apple has a good one. If anyone is actually interested in buying something like that, please let me know - it might motivate me. I'd have to take down the Empty Cart Award from my blog, though.

  5. Lovely verticals here. Perfectly lined up, especially with the light pole detail. Do a book!

  8. In case you are interested in self-publishing with all the do-dads of big publishers, try lulu.com and explore that. I have done some text books there but no photo books.

I love your arch photos too, or I don't love them. I love my wife and like other things or other things appeal to me. LOL

Your arch photos have always had a special appeal to me and my eye on impossibilities. That thing should never stand up there but it does.

    Have a nice weekend.

  9. Your Arch photo book may be something a local bookstore or visitors center would stock - you'd certainly have enough great photos for a credible collection - I really like these vertical lines.
You know, WRT your Thursday/Friday dilemma, I'm thinking of Amish quilts. The quilter always intentionally includes a stitch that is imperfect to reflect their belief that humans are fallible, and it's just part of our package. Could this be your Amish moment?
