Bremen, Kansas is a town of 45. My wife grew up in the suburbs. The old family farm and home is now owned by her youngest brother and his wife. Their children are grown but everybody is home today for Thanksgiving, from 89 year old grandma, my generation, our young adult children and a variety of their rug-rat sized kids. And dogs. A lot of dogs underfoot.
I went out around the farm with my camera late this afternoon. Don't mess with these cattle. They got a bad attitude.
TOMORROW: BANG!

Your Thanksgiving celebration sounded wonderful, esp. with the gathering of generations! I LOVE the moon photo; you would't mind, I hope, if I used it for my computer wallpaper, would you? I like to change it on occasion, and this photo is so soothing that I would love to look at it more often.
ReplyDeleteLove those cows! Grew up in the country, they remind me of my childhood. Cows are very smart.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
Wonderful pictures as usual but I absolutely love the first one. Can't stop laughing watching it. If those cows could talk, you'd be in serious trouble Mister!
ReplyDeleteLoved the "exotic" feel of this post. Lovely.
The cows are so cute, but that moon one is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I hear one of the cows saying EAT MOR CHIKEN.
ReplyDeleteI love the expressions on the cows.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving on the farm...the way it used to be! That one on the left REALLY hates to have its picture taken! Great moon by the way!
ReplyDeleteThe funniest cow photo I've ever seen! It is as if they are growling at you! What'd you do? LOL
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to take a moon photo like that; so large, brilliant and detailed. Wonderful.
I milked those cows 'with an attitude'! And I had a bad attitude when I had to milk them a 6AM in the morning and when it was too damn cold for any human being to be outside....(I am his sister-in-law and had to endure these ugly cows in my younger years!)
ReplyDeleteThe picture really does 'justice'
to their true spirit....
Cows want respect too !
ReplyDeleteLove that cow photograph and the beautiful one of the moon. That's a special one.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments. The cattle were in a feeding pen, enclosed with horizontal bars. I stuck my lens between them at the cows' face level; they just came over and checked me out. Moon photos like this one are really easy IF you have the equipment: a digital SLR, a big telephoto lens (this was shot at 400 mm and then cropped to increase the relative size) and a copy of Photoshop. The colors and brightness have been greatly modified.
