A young dancer

Another participant at the Grand Center Dance in the Streets festival. She seems unsure, still in need of an adult hand. Her face looks like a porcelain figurine.

I can't dance to save my life. I'm a bit clumsy, no athletic ability whatever. Why do I post pictures of dancers?

TOMORROW: Thursday Arch Series

  1. If I had posted that picture I would have certainly titled the post "Tiny Dancer" and fired off some quip about her needing to be held closer.

  2. Her face is so white ... My wife continues to hope I will one day get rhythm. But I am a lost cause on the dance floor.

  3. Oops. Sorry, U. I don't have Elton John lyrics on the tip of my tongue. On the other hand, if I had a photo that suggested a Frank Zappa ditty, say Dog Breath In the Year of the Plague or America Drinks and Goes Home, I'd be all over it.

  4. The latter Zappa came on shuffle this morning to bless my commute.

  5. I am also completely without coordination. My wife and both kids are dancers though.

I also enjoyed the dancing at this festival. I've found that I really enjoy watching modern dance the most, though I can't think of anything I saw at this festival that wasn't incredible! I took 250 pictures on my little point and shoot. Unfortunately, since it's reaction time is so long, probably only 10% of the pictures are really good.

  6. She looks pretty but a bit too young for all that makeup. My opinion only.

  7. She is a pretty young dancer but I wonder why she looks so sad. I agree with Lv2.. I thought of Jon Benet Ramsey when I first saw this photo.

  10. Well, I think that anything that tends to help a child with poise is a good thing. Yet, I,too, wonder about the make-up, "glamour", and all that kind of attention at such a young age. Very different from my grand-daughter and her friends' activities.

  11. Great picture. She's got a way about her that looks charming. Maybe she fell while dancing, notice the scratch on the left arm. Perhaps she was crying before but her face is delicate and the fact that she looks worried or sad staring vacantly, creates a certain mood.
