These pictures are from the St. Louis Cardinals home opening game on Monday. There were rallies outside the stadium and a complete sell-out within. Note the first picture. They mow the image of the Arch in the outfield grass in near-perfect alignment with the monument. This town is devoted to the team. It's said we are among the best baseball cities in America.
Unfortunately, we got absolutely thwacked by the Cincinnati Reds, our main rival in the division. However, we beat them well on Tuesday and thwacked them on Wednesday with a 10 - 0 win. That's one of the beauties of baseball. The major league teams usually play six days a week. The chemistry, even just fortune, is different every time.

Nice series. I talked today to a guy who went to the Monday game. He said he went early and STILL couldn't find a place to park.
I hope the Cardinals have more success than they did in their opening series on the road in Arizona.
You always find the funniest people to photograph! :-) And the bottom shot is brilliant, there's so much to see.
it's been marvelous catching up on your blog. i love the kid portraits particularly. you've caught such gleeful expressions.
The NL Central is going to go down to the wire. Both your Cards and my Reds are stacked.
Great crowd shots, and I love the stadium.
Safe to say the Cubs will have a disastrous season, right?
That is why they play the games, Bob.
The scenes are so typically Midwestern, with absolutely everyone dressed in the team colors. In the cynical east, fans dress however they want, and they are "above" showing excessive allegiance to a team. After all, they are individuals! Not in the Midwest . . .
Maybe if there were large amounts of bourbon, I'd like baseball. Maybe not.

Great series here Bob. The arch photos are great as are the fan photos.
Oh my a bonus shot of the Arch today Bob, brilliant! I think your Arch is a little like the Eiffel Tour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, you spot it from just so many unexpected places.
I guess you could call this April Madness. Go Cards!
