The Grandkids

Greetings once again from Clare, Michigan, where my son and his family live. The sign on the highway coming into town says "Clare - Gateway To The North." Since this is Michigan, that's serious business.

We brought daughter Emily and granddaughter Madeleine (Ellie to us) on this trip. Our other granddaughter, Audrey, will be two this month, and Ellie will be four. Son Andy's house just has a walk-in shower so Audrey takes a bath in a washtub. There was just room for Ellie to squeeze in.

Below, Ellie gets a little bit bossy while trying to get Audrey to play hide and seek in the back yard.

How many people have had a likewise experience when they were young. I still remember me sitting in a contraption like this one with my brother when we were 4 and 3 on the kitchen floor. In those times a bathroom was a luxury only for a very few in Amsterdam. When you were 6 you went to the bathhouse.

These girls are adorable. When they are 20 and discover the top photo, you will have a lot of explaining to do!
