Trying To Get Back Into Contacts

This painting in the art museum resembles what I've looked like in the morning for the last week. I wore contact lenses years ago but my vision isn't so good and the time came when the technology of the day couldn't give me adequate correction. Back to glasses. Times change and my ophthalmologist said they might work for me now. It's not going well. The new ones are so thin they are almost not there at all. Hard to get in and out, sort of like this. The painting is an example of an artist showing off his technique for depicting glass but it's kind of like me at 6:30 in the morning, looking into the mirror.

Then some more of the Art In Bloom arrangements, balancing Morris Louis and Frank Stella.

Our big St. Patrick's Day Parade is tomorrow, usually a don't miss shoot. The weather looks miserable, though, below freezing, blustery and snow showers. We'll see how much I can manage.

Musea always good for some inspiring ideas.

Beautiful arrangements. I use glasses for driving, so I would generally refrain from contacts.

I started wearing glasses when I was a little kid but, sometime in my twenties, I moved to contact lenses and I wore those for many, many years. In fact, I was wearing them when I worked in St. Louis and then Chicago. However "the windy city" got to me and I was constantly in pain from dust in my eyes. So, I had lasik eye surgery and It was a miracle. But, now as I'm getting up there in age, it's starting to slip again so I'm back to wearing glasses part of the time. But, wow all those years with perfect vision....it was great!

Like Sharon, I couldn't stand the constant aggravation of minute particles sneaking under my contacts, so I abandoned them in my mid-20s. (I didn't mind glasses either, because I thought they made a starting lawyer look more serious.) Decades later I also found that glasses could no longer fix my fuzzy vision, so a couple of weeks ago I had cataract surgery on both eyes. Glasses-free and contact-free for the first time in a LONG time. (Though the near vision is marginal and I use drugstore cheaters every now and then for reading.)
