Burlington Northern & Sante Fe

I'm sure I've mentioned it here before. There is a railroad tunnel that runs below the Arch, coming out at the north end of its surrounding park. The track runs through a passage in Eads Bridge and then north to wherever. This exposed part runs over what used to be the foot of Washington Avenue before all the renovations. You can just see this trestle in the second picture of the last two days' posts.

The dream of every model train hobbyist to reach that point of perfection as here in real life.

You captured the train at the perfect moment. Nice image Bob!

When I was a little kid, my grandfather used to tell us all kinds of railroad stories. He worked for the Santa Fe railroad and he had lots of stores to tell about his trips to the "wild west". Little did he know that I'd end up living in the "wild west" one day. Thanks for that little trip down memory lane.

I had a Lionel train set as a kid, circa 1955. Still have the locomotive and 6 cars....taking them back to the US to sell. Kind of sad.

Here a lot of the freight trains are kept to the south parts of the city. Even the VIA passenger service doesn't come near downtown.
