Boots On The Ground

The blocks around Cherokee Street on the south side are not the most elegant in our city. However, there are some scrappy and creative residents. As I was walking to my car parked on Iowa Avenue just off Cherokee I noticed this bit of urban horticulture: two old work boots, filled with soil and holding struggling flowers. Not like at the botanical garden but it gets a A+ for effort.

It's a great idea and beats throwing them away.

I've seen ceramic and concrete boots used like this Bob, but it's a first for boot boots 😃 tres creative, and if it makes people smile I'm all for it 😃

It used to be a pretty nice area. My mom had a small grocery store at Utah and Ohio, a block away. I spent Saturdays roaming the stores on Cherokee. But the whole area has changed so much, I never go there anymore.

Like Grace, I've seen this type of thing done in ceramic but here we have the real thing. Very clever.

Very clever, Bob. I saw this at the Naples Botanical Garden, so they have high class company.

Real boots, eh? I've seen clay ones specially made for putting potted plants inside. They'd go along well with garden gnomes, me thinks!
