Slow Down

Annie Malone Parade  2015-05-17 3

St. Louis loves parades and we throw in anything that can roll or walk. Always motorcycle police, fire trucks and the state highway patrol. I hate to see these cars in my rear view mirror, even it I'm right on the speed limit. The officers all look like they just retired from the Marine Corps and have no sense of humor at all.

Oh I know exactly what you mean Bob.. just a glimpse of a police car in the back mirror and I'm sure they're after me :)

... and strange how a stop and a 'conversation' can ruin my entire day. It happens seldom to me. That's ggod.

Surprisingly, the police here in Berlin are on the whole friendly and approachable. Something I'd never dream of in North America.

Yes, they do! I'm the same way. Even if I haven't done a thing wrong, it makes me nervous.
Your comment about rain and Phoenix streets made me remember a time many, many years ago when we had a particularly wet spring. I was standing by a second floor window at work looking down on the street as a pot hole just kept getting bigger and bigger as the wet tires from the cars passed over it knocking little bits of pavement loose with each passing car.

Most of them don't have a sense of humor.

Years ago, I had a landlord who was a police officer. He was always good to us, but I knew he had a horrible temper. I once said he was a stroke waiting to happen. Felt weird to hear that's how he died....

My mail goal when driving thousands of miles in the USA is NOT getting pulled over. That's why I'm always under the speed limit. Always.

"You know how fast you were going, sir?"

"No, but I'm sure you're going to tell me."
