Paint Louis

Paint Louis 1

I missed some local events when I was in Chicago last weekend. One of them was Paint Louis, the sanctioned but irregular opportunity for graffiti artists to redecorate the long floodwall that runs along the Mississippi south of the Arch. I swung by on my way home from work last night and got some shots. Someone, presumably from that city, even painted the flag of the City of Chicago to remind me of my travels.

This is a great concept to give creative street artists a place to express themselves, to create an attraction, and hopefully to avoid the artists painting where they are not welcome.

At least here it's allowable, as opposed to some of the other spots they tend to tag.

Every city should have this. The results are really nice!

I've been chuckling at some of the comments you made on other bloggers' posts today, namely Birdman and Dave. You're becoming a real stand-up comic.

The murals are bright and certainly should satisfy the need to use someone's else's canvas for one's grafitti.

Gosh the local graffiti artists were busy while you were away Bob, and a nice job they did too! I like the blue eyes, very striking!

I've always enjoyed the graffiti!

I agree that all cities need a wall like this one. A lot of talent out there.
