Thursday Arch Series (We'll Always Have Paris)

Paris IL High School Band 4

Paris, Illinois, is a town of about 9,000 near the Indiana border. It's just off Interstate 70, the highway from St. Louis to Indianapolis. I'd never heard of it. Yet when I was out trolling for pix last weekend, there was its high school band on the stage under the Arch. They were good, and so wholesome.

Have you noticed how concentration makes that young lady's toe curl?

The real Paris in St-Louis would be somewhat different though! ;-)

I taught kindergarten in Paris for three years. I was searching these faces for any recognition before I realized that all of "my" kids would be graduated by now. Time flies!

Terrific shots!

I'm wondering how that conductor could tolerate being in a jacket this time of year...

The clarinet section is my favorite. Clever that the "band uniform" for the girls is anything in black and white.

What? Girls in sandals, boys in short sleeves? We're not getting any of that here even though June is round the corner. I'm still wearing my turtlenecks and haven't worn my sandals once this year. Talk about pitiful weather :(

I am always amazed when I see these midwest photos. I keep thinking, "they're all white." Said the same when we took our daughter to college in Oregon. It's kind of like the midwest in some ways.
