Girl Rising

In 2013, and every year.

Something new found on the graffiti-permitted section of the Mississippi River floodwall.

The girl is sweet, sort of. I wonder what it means.

This is the title of a film being released this month about girls across the globe finding their way to education where such opportunities are not always available to them. Haven't seen it yet but it's supposed to be outstanding.

Thanks Kitty for filling in the blanks.

Yes thanks Brattcat, it's always good to appreciate what a piece of art means. Well spotted Bob.

It looks like art, but the writing could have been done better.

It's a simple but effective design then.

There's a graffiti permitted section of wall there??? Does it keep the rest of the walls clean of graffiti???

Aren't you lucky to have intelligent and knowledgeable commenters like brattcat? Or maybe only brattcat is intelligent and knowledgeable and the rest of us are in her reflected glory.

I followed your question on my blog with my answer, but, of course, everyone would answer differently. It is why there is chocolate and vanilla.

Yes, brattcat is right - that movie is at the top of my 'want to see' list! How funny to spot this graffiti via your blog. :)

I've seen it. It's a very moving and beautiful film with an excellent social action campaign to go with it. You'll be amazed by these young women, disgusted by their treatment in life, and inspired to help. You'll think about, and appreciate the women in your own life, and what they've gone thru. See this film as soon as you can.

I did that with my daughters! We used a stencil and yes, the writing is horrible.
We are hosting a screening of the movie, Girl Rising, at Des Peres theatre this Monday March 18th! Please come!
Tickets can be reserved at this site:

Stefan, you will be happy to know... We went back and fixed the text. We are still amateurs, but my 12 yo is happier with it.
Btw, Paint Louis 2013 is June 21-23 (at least that is what was spray painted on the wall)
