Man's Best Friend

Soulard Pet Parade 2013-02-03 6

A photo taken on the sidelines as I was leaving the pet parade. They both look melancholy, almost as if they were grieving, sitting there on the snowy curb. I don't like the look of that bull terrier's collar, though.

Hmmm. Was yesterday's post a little too obscure?

At least the collar is the right way around. I've seen these fearful things used as a training device on a dog, to stop it pulling. Not good. This is such a lovely breed with children but not too clever with other dogs. I think the melancholy look comes from him thinking, Lord, this dog is heavy' and the dog thinking'I'd better cling on my my paw else he's going to drop me.'

yesterday's post not too obscure. just difficult to find time to comment every day. today's photo quite wonderful in documenting cross-species communication. thank you for your comment about siddhartha. i just reread hh's little jewel last year and love that my image brought that river to your mind.

That's a good shot. Has a lot of character in it.

I don't know anything about this breed of dog, but I will still cross the street if I see one coming . . .
