Too Early

.
2012-03-24 Tulips Downtown 1

These pictures were taken yesterday, March 24, on the lawn surrounding Richard Serra's Twain downtown. It worries me. There have been some baseball opening games in early April at which the temperature was a few degrees above freezing. What's to come? However, we should remember statistics and randomness, and not panic. (American TV weather announcers love panic.) The newspaper says that this is only the fourth warmest winter since they started to keep statistics in the 19th Century.

The picture on top is a hand-held HDR, taken while the flowers were shaking in the breeze. The one below is of a tulip that may be the first of the new crop to fall. All things must pass.

That is a clever way to capture the movement of the tulips.

I loved your series of photos from Costa Rica and am glad that you enjoyed staying at our condo again. I will have to check out the local rodeo at Villareal next time I am there. Thank you for teaching me something new about our adopted second home.

That's the media for you. Next time it rains it could be the end of the world! We only have 5C today.

Understandable about the comments.

I have something of the same problem.

I do have brookvilledailyphotoposts.blogspot.com and birdsbirdsbirdsandbirds.blogspot.com set up for comments and they are photography-type blogs.

My flowers are not even up out of the ground yet.

Nice photo as usual. On Al Gore's blog, he reported two interesting statistics: "The March heat wave continues to shatter longstanding records from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast, with more than 2,200 warm temperature records set during the month so far..." and "The level of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere reached 390 parts per million, the highest concentration in nearly 800,000 years" So I'm enjoying the warm weather, but still...

Spring flowers don't last very long but they are so beautiful!

We've been having May/June temperatures for over a week now. Very strange.

I know! I have tulips and daffodils in my yard (I don't know how they got there though, so neat and in a line... since I didn't plant them) and it seemed so early for that and for them to already have reached full bloom

Tulips are always beautiful.

Here in Ottawa we've got a whole festival devoted to them. I just hope they don't bloom too early...

Enjoy them while you can! They're beautiful.

My first thought was 'it's never to early for tulips' but yes I see what you mean, it does seem to be warming up a little too quickly in many places around the world. Gorgeous shot of the tulips, red and yellow is the perfect blend.
