The Smell Of Napalm In The Morning

.
Marine Week 6

There's something about the photos I'm posting this week that reminds me of images of the Vietnam War - helicopters coming out of the low sun, I love the smell of napalm in the morning. But the main event of these, um, festivities is this afternoon. I hope for good weather and light, followed by details tomorrow.

There is so much to shoot in The Lou this weekend: this stuff, a mass public water balloon fight on Cherokee Street Saturday and the best photo-op of the year, the Pridefest Parade on Sunday. Stay tuned.

Looks like an evacuation by helicopter on Downtown St. Louis 365.

You have quite a weekend ahead of you.

Julie wants to travel to Vietnam. It is not as high on my list. It brings back such painful memories. And I did not serve in the military. I got as close as a pre-induction physical upon being drafted in 1972, but the Army did not want me.

I'm ambivalent about this whole thing. But the kid in me just thinks it's awesome and would have wanted to be there. I think this is your best shot from the event. A lil lens flare in the wide angle ups the drama.
