Banana Man

.
People's Joy Parade 10 (Banana Man 1)

I have seen this man at each of the three years of the People's Joy Parade. I'm sure the bananas are plastic - they are much too perfect and uniform. What's he all about? Maybe he's a shill for Chiquita.

The last of the Alder Loft murals is on Downtown St. Louis 365.

I hope those bananas inspire people to go buy some more Costa Rican bananas.

Ha, what a guy. I always have a couple of bananas with me when I go for a bike ride but it would look a bit weird if I tried this!

I had to look for shill in the dictionary and I guess you are right. I wonder how much Chiquita Banana is paying him... :-)))

His name is Uriel Starbuck, he is the founder of an art bike group that I belong to called the Banana Bike Brigade (hence the bananas) that's been going strong since 1993. He doesn't ride anymore due to health conditions, but always rides a golf cart in the Mardi Gras parade, waving regally to the crowd.
P.S. Banana Bike Brigade placed 2nd in the Mardi Gras Parade in 2016 and 1st place in 2015.
