Thursday Arch Series

.
Tea Party Rally 32

We need an Arch picture since it's Thursday. The Tea Party rally was under the Arch. There is a stage right on the river facing the monument. Lots of events are held there and the audience sits on the grand staircase. As you can see, it was busy last Sunday but hardly full. That was a surprise.

HEY, THIS COULD BE A LOT OF FUN: I've been offered my first official media pass to cover an event! Verizon Wireless sponsors an annual contest called How Sweet The Sound to select the best church choir in America. They are having a regional competition in St. Louis for the first time on October 5. I was invited to cover it for STL DPB with full credentials, including time backstage with the singers and the oppotunity to photograph the show close up. Could be days and days of material. Woo hoo!

Congratulations on your appointment as a member of the working press. The line between blogs and more traditional media is getting blurred

felicitation, tu dois être content, suivre un évènement depuis l'intérieur c'est le plus agréable, les backstage and co.
Superbe toute cette foule en hommage a la grande arche ;)

I'm so glad it wasn't a full house. My fear is that someday it will be. As for this first official media event for you, the gig is well deserved! Congratulations. I know you'll do an outstanding job.

I'm with Brattcat on this one. Scary that there were that many.

I'm pumped about your Press Pass, B. Can't wait to see what you get. Whoohooo is right!

That stretch in the arch is kind of scary, but somehow not as scary as those people under it.

I'v never seen a view from under the arch like this before. Neat to see.

In answer to your question, yes the photo I did was with the aide of "computer magic". The photo and composition are real. I equalized the sky to get the effect you saw.

You do excellent work with stage performances so I'm looking forward to some fab images and commentary.

As for the Tea Party (thank you for the coverage), they don't scare me. I live in NW Florida, one of the most conservative - read: nuttiest - regions in America. We have a Who's Who of "People Who Walk on the Blind Side" and have made national news because of it. This is Tea Party Ground Zero, closet racists who finally got permission to act out. Think of Dr Laura as their spiritual guru.

I really do have to come see the arch when I travel to St. Louis.

Good to know the rally wasn't too packed...
