Head Shots

.
The Fourth of July parade and fireworks in Ridgewood, New Jersey, are not until today, a legal holiday in the US, so no shots of that. I won't have any fresh St. Louis material until the weekend. For a few days, then, we will pull up more Maine images or perhaps dig in the archives.

There was nothing scheduled last Friday afternoon. Three of us spent some time in the studio with our teaching assistant,
Jason Esposito, working on lighting head shots. Above, your humble servant, taken by Kelley de Bettancourt. Below, Ted Lieverman, taken by me. At the bottom, Jason instructs Kelley on flash settings.

Home this afternoon.

You both look a bit unhappy, isn't that strange?
Oh so when the 4th of July is on a Sunday, the day after is a holiday too? Wow, I wish we had that here, most of our holidays are on weekends this year and 2011 too.
Funny that the name de Bettancourt should spring up. I hope the photographer has nothing to do with the current "affaire B."

I would never have the nerve to pose for a portrait unless several layers of gauze were involved. Enjoy your continued break from the work-a-day world. So good you got to visit your sibs.

Two super portraits, Bob. I don't think I'd have the patience for all this but the results are obviously worth it.

I'm not sure if that is an unhappy expression or an expression of intense concentration. This was hard work, wasn't it?

Wanted in all 50 states. May be armed with multiple lenses and could carrying an off camera flash.

PS I know how you feel. I'm much happier BEHIND the camera!

Now that's two happy cheery chaps!
I can see the quality photography in this, very interesting work. I'll ditto Virginia - much happier behind the camera than in front of it!

I just read with much interest the details about your camera camp. Fascinating! Glad you had such a good time. Wonder how much of it you'll keep for actual use back home.

Love the fog in yesterday's photo. I sailed in Maine, I can relate to that fog! Great (and scary) memories!!!

Oh and by the way, thanks for your comment in Avignon in Photos today. The story about your son's fashion statement while in France really made me laugh ("Andy's self-created fashion statement was to wear one red and one blue Converse canvas high-top, or one green and one yellow. Parisians stared and then smiled with approval"). If I count well, that's 4 different pairs of Converse needed to achieve the look. He didn't travel light back then, did he? Is he still the same? :-))))
