Dancing In The Street: Military Tap

.
I wasn't nuts about this picture (it's backlit, the sky is blown out and so on) but it got a surprising response on Flickr so I thought I'd try it on the blog.

At last weekend's Dancing In The Street festival, one of the stages was reserved for tap dancers. This bunch was full of enthusiasm (look at the face of the woman under the orange flag) but, in a way, it was a little too silly. You know, like the troops lost their trousers. They were dancing to the World War II tune The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B. Few men would dance dressed like that. You may feel differently.

HA! Bergson's comment is hilarious. I'm LOL!!! Well I knew the song before you even told us. I love it. The babes are having a ball and if I were up there I'd be flat on my bum.

That is a funny photo.

I saw your comment on the Buenos Aires photo blog about your interest in going to either Bariloche or El Calafate, Argentina, and asking whether there is enough to do for several days in each place.

Julie and I have been to both, and yes, there is enough to do in both places. In El Calafate, we stayed at the Los Notros Explora Lodge which is right in the National Park. You look directly at the Perito Moreno Glacier from your room. I have not been to Alaska, but it is a unique experience to be so close to a glacier and to be able to hike across the face of the glacier. It is very pricey to stay right in the park, but it avoids a dusty drive of about 45 minutes or so from town into the glacier area if you stay in town.

Bariloche is in the lakes region of Patagonia and there is beautiful scenery of lakes, mountains, meadows, etc. If you had to choose one, I think that the Perito Moreno Glacier is more of a unique experience, as there are pristine lakes and mountains in other places, but walking across a glacier and watching pieces of the glacier calve off and crash into the lake is extraordinary.

Lol @ Bergson, he said it! Other than that, forget about the backlighting, I love their expressions!

I think it's a GREAT photo, and the lady under the flag is really enjoying herself.

Personally, I think more men should dress like that more often!
