News of the Flood

The Mississippi River is falling but there is still an awful lot of water. Here, a television cameraman records the scene. The graceful arches of Eads Bridge, the first bridge over the central Mississippi, are in the background. The Casino Queen, one of our half-dozen gambling dens, is behind it. The Queen claims the loosest slot slot machines in the whole country.

TOMORROW: Thursday Arch Series but, um, on Friday. Chinamom2005 has pointed out that I have my days of the week mixed up. I better slow down my pace.

Water, water everywhere...except Belgrade. Your photo reminded me of major flooding we had two years ago. The cameraman here looks like he's expecting The Creature from the Black Lagoon to emerge!

Nice shot. Trying to shake things up with the arch being on Friday this week?

Strangetastes, did you use a tripod for this picture? it's pretty sharp and DOF clear all the way to background. I've thought to carry a tripod lately. I really like your street photography, this is one of them.

The water still looks very high.

I like this picture - I think having the cameraman in the foreground lifts it and gives it much more interest.

Knowing what I know now, I think he is contemplating how long it will take him to swim to "THE QUEEEN".
Loose slots, my foot. No such thing.
