Fiat Lux

Let there be light. This is an old power and steam plant in an industrial area along the Mississippi. I may show the whole facade tomorrow. The full wording across the top says Union Electric Power and Light, the original name of our electric company. The plant gave us light but is hardly emblematic of it any more.

I LOVE this building. I drive by it everyday and I'm fascinated by it, but I've never had a closer look. I sure wish we built building with such style these days. Now I mourn when these great old buildings get torn down. Maybe if we built with style, it wouldn't be so painful.

Seems poetic given your recent trip to Detroit, where artful buildings abound in neglected glory. Nice shot and enjoyed your flidkr gallery.

It looks impressive, that old buildings are quite something, here in MC a few of them was converted in big malls. Greetings from Mexico City.
